6 Michigan breweries take home medals in Craft Beer Awards

Ever kicked back and enjoyed a cool Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout? How about a tall brewsky made from yeast found in a man's beard?

DETROIT - Michigan's growing craft beer industry is getting some much deserved recognition. 

Six Michigan breweries took home medals at the annual Best of Craft Beer Awards, which includes beers from around the world.

Held in Oregon, judges taste beers in more than 150 style categories with gold, silver and bronze medals.

All medalists will be included in a full page advertisement in Draft Magazine’s Craft Brewers Conference Issue, and a 2-page spread in the spring issue of Craft Beer & Brewing.

Historical beer:

Silver medal: Batch Brewing - Pennsylvania Swankey - Detroit

Coffee Beer:

Gold medal: Pigeon Hill Brewing - Walter Gets Buzzed - Muskegon

Herb and Spice Beer:

Gold medal: Pigeon Hill Brewing - Your Mom on French Toast - Muskegon

Silver medal: Grand River Brewery - Planet Basil - Jackson

Baltic-Style Porter:

Bronze medal: Dutch Girl Brewery - The Mechanic - Spring Lake

American Style Creme Ale:

Bronze medal: Grand River Brewery - Lake Rat - Jackson

Oatmeal Stout:

Silver medal: 57 BrewPup and Bistro - Scurvy Dude Stout - Greenville

American Style Imperial Stout or Imperial Porter:

Silver medal: Founders Brewing Co., - Imperial Stout - Grand Rapids
