8-year-old Pontiac boy runs to call 911 as gunmen burst into home

Boy runs to neighbor's house to call 911 as robbers hold mother, sibling at gunpoint

PONTIAC, Mich. – An 8-year-old Pontiac boy called 911 to say his mother was being held at gunpoint inside their home.

The two robbers got away but not before promising they would be back.

"I was in the kitchen cooking my kids something to eat," the boy's mother said.

Then, suddenly, two gunmen burst into the home through the front door.

"There was a dark skinned boy, he had a hoodie on with a 9 mm gun telling me to get down on the ground, 'Where's the money at?!'" the mother said.

The mother, who will be identified as Kristina in this story, says she and her 10-year-old son were on their knees with their faces down and a gun pressed to their heads. Her other two children were upstairs doing homework.

"I just told them, 'Don't kill my kids. Take whatever you want. Don't kill my kids,' and they were rambling through everything and kept asking me, 'Is there anything else in here? Is there anything else? Do you have any money in your bra?'" she said.

The robbers got away with only $12. When they left, Kristina ran through her home frantically. She couldn't find her 8-year-old son.

"I though actually they had took my son with them," she said.

She came to find out that the boy somehow slipped between the two intruders. They couldn't catch him as he ran out of the home.

"(He) ran to a neighbor's house and called 911," Kristina said.

As soon as the mother stepped outside she was met by police and her son on the sidewalk, but the robbers were long gone.

"I just hope that they catch them soon," the mother said.

The 8-year-old now is known as the little man of the house.

"I call him my little hero," his mother said.
