Argument between friends turns deadly in Pontiac

57-year-old man found beaten to death at Phoenix Place apartments on Water Street

PONTIAC, Mich. – An argument between two friends in a Pontiac apartment has ended in an alleged murder.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said neighbors in the Phoenix Place apartments on Water Street called 911 at about 1 a.m. Monday for noise complaints.

Deputies responded in mere moments. Their substation is right across the street.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the body of 57-year-old Robert Brantley, who rents an apartment there. He was inside his apartment and sources told Local 4 it appears he was beaten to death.

In fact, Brantley had his friend over visiting.

Sources say the two got into a vicious argument and then a fist fight. Brantley's friend was taken into custody on the spot.

Sources said no weapons were used in the fight.
