Argument leads football player to punching coach from Stoney Creek High School

West Bloomfield player punches Stoney Creek assistant coach Buzz Zube during on-field argument

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – An on-field argument at a high school football game has led to a player punching the assistant coach from Stoney Creek High School.

It all happened Friday night at Cougar Field as Stoney Creek held onto a 22-point lead.

With 15 seconds left in the game the opposing team from West Bloomfield High School decided not to take a knee because they were looking for a "Hail Mary" play.

Before it was all over, fouls were handed out and tension overflowed. Trash talking began, especially after Stoney Creek coaches ordered their team off the field before the traditional postgame handshake.

The argument between coaches turned serious when a junior player from West Bloomfield punched the 67-year-old Stoney Creek assistant coach, Buzz Zube, in the face.

The player was suspended and could now face assault charges.

In a statement Stoney Creek Administration said, "We are currently conducting an internal investigation into what occurred. If any Stoney Creek High School players or coaches are found to be at fault, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken."
