DTE Energy to shut down power to 5,000 Friday morning in Redford Township area

Emergency repairs to Redford Township substation means temporary power outage Friday morning for 5,000 customers

DETROIT – DTE Energy will shut down electrical service to about 5,000 customers for three hours beginning at 3 a.m. Friday.

The affected area is roughly bounded by 7 Mile Road to the north, Ross Drive to the south, Grand River Avenue to the west and the Rouge River to the east, DTE said.

Crews are making emergency equipment repairs to a substation on 6 Mile Road in Redford Township, causing the temporary service outage.

Customers will be notified by DTE about the planned interruption. Some street lights and traffic signals also will be affected.
