Flint soldier killed in Afghanistan

Sgt. Joseph M. Lilly of Flint was killed while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom

DETROIT – The Department of Defense announced Sunday the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

25-year-old Sgt. Joseph M. Lilly of Flint was killed June 14 in Panjwa'l, Kandahar province, Afghanistan.  He and Spc. Trevor A. Pinnick of Lawrenceville, Illinois died of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device, according to the Department of Defense.
