Girls with terminal illnesses enjoy spa day

Wish Upon A Teen hosts first-ever Michigan Spa Day in Novi

NOVI, Mich. – Being a teenager is tough enough, but when you're faced with a terminal illness life can get a little more complicated.  Some local teens had the chance to forget about all of that for a while and enjoy some pampering compliments of the Wish Upon A Teen organization.

A dozen girls came together Sunday at One Salon in Novi for Wish Upon A Teen's first-ever Michigan Spa Day.  They enjoyed a special day of manicures, pedicures, makeovers and lunch.  It's all part of Wish Upon A Teen's mission to make life a little better for teens going through tough times and battling life-threatening illnesses.  Wish Upon A Teen's president and founder, Michelle Soto, says the purpose of the Spa Day was to give these girls a chance to do some of the little things they otherwise wouldn't be able to do.

"These girls can't go to the mall, and hang out with their girlfriends, and go get a manicure or go shopping. So, we try to provide that in a safe environment for them," says Soto.
