GROSSE POINTE, Mich. – It was 11:30 a.m. Sunday when Barbara Teranes heard the 14-year-old and 11-year-old sisters screaming outside of her Grosse Pointe home.
"Dressed all in black with something across his face with some teenaged girls, and they were kind of struggling," she said.
When she first stepped outside she thought it was a scene from a movie.
"I don't see a camera and it's still not ... can't be real," she said.
The man, described as black and his mid 20s, robbed the girls in broad daylight. Minutes later, the same gun was pointed at Teranes.
"The guy came running up the sidewalk here ... and he takes his gun and he points it at me," she said.
It is a robbery which has shaken the otherwise quiet Grosse Pointe neighborhood. On Monday night, the girls' parents took their concerns to the city.
In a video captured by Toni Stinson, of Grosse Pointe Patch, the girls' father, who will not be named in this story, wanted to know why an alert was not released on Nixle until Monday night.
"The officer who actually puts that information in was actually with a K9 unit that was out working," said Grosse Point Police Chief Stephen Poloni.
No arrests have been made. Although the robbery did not take place near school property, the Grosse Pointe School District did send out a letter to community members to alert them about what happened to two of their students.
