Help sought for dog hit by car in Garden City

Animal rescue group seeks owner of dog hit by vehicle at Ford Road, Helen Street

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – An animal rescue group is searching for the owners of a dog struck by a vehicle at Helen Street and Ford Road in Garden City.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop. The dog was rushed to an emergency veterinarian by a P.O.E.T. Animal Rescue volunteer who happened to witness the dog getting hit.

The dog, which is described as an Akita mix, is in stable condition in the care of P.O.E.T. The animal rescue group said the 80-pound male will need surgery.

They are asking for help finding the dog's owner and for donations to help cover veterinary bills.
