Inkster police investigate 5 shootings in 5 hours

1 dead, 4 hurt

INKSTER – One person is dead and four others have been injured in a series of shootings that took place within hours of each other in Inkster.

Police said two people were shot at Lehigh and Meadowdale just after 7 p.m. Sunday. They were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover.

Then, at about 12:40 a.m. Monday, shots were reported in the area of Moore and Lehigh. When police arrived, no one was around, but an area hospital called to report that a man and a woman had arrived to their ER with gunshot wounds. The man died at the hospital. The woman suffered a gunshot wound to her arm.

Police said just before officers arrived at the hospital, another person arrived at the same hospital and stated that he had been shot at Beech & Northland.

In a statement, police said there is a twist in the shootings: The subject that was shot at Northland & Beech is the brother of the man who died at the hospital from Moore & Lehigh.

There two incidents (for the time being) are being considered separate incidents, police said.
