Man dies in police-involved shooting in Westland

Westland police say 27-year-old threatened to kill people

WESTLAND, Mich. - Westland police say a 27-year-old man has been killed in an officer-involved shooting.

The shooting happened in the area of Clare and Grand Traverse streets.

Police said officers were sent to the area on the report of an armed man threatening to kill people.

Without giving many details, police said the 27-year-old man was shot and taken to Oakwood Hospital -- but died from his injuries.

A statement from the police department says, "At this time the Westland Police Department is investigating the incident."
