Michigan DNR seeks volunteers to help in parks

The Department of Natural Resources is looking for volunteers to help at state parks and recreation areas in southern Michigan.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to remove invasive plants such as garlic mustard and dame’s rock.

Garlic mustard, which is from Europe, threatens Michigan’s ecosystems by crowding out plants native to the state.

The job is similar to weeding a garden, according to the DNR.

Volunteers should bring work gloves and water, and should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.
