NEGAUNEE, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder has helped dedicate a new 12-mile section of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail in the central Upper Peninsula.
According to published reports, Snyder and other officials were among about 100 people on hand in Negaunee on Tuesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The newly opened Phase 3 of the trail connects Negaunee and Marquette.
Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority administrator Carol Fulsher says closing the gap between the two population centers lets her group start marketing the trail and helps draw more users.
The section of trail cost about $2 million.
