SOUTHGATE, Mich. - Police and Child Protective Services are investigating a Southgate pawn shop's claim that a mother offered herself and her 10-year-old daughter up for sex in exchange for payment.
It happened at Dasilva's Pawn Shop on Eureka Road near Dix-Toledo Road.
The mother did admit she made a comment to the clerk, but that it was a joke.
"The comment was that, maybe me and him should go to the back," the mother said.
The comment was in relation to the $25 which she owed in pawn shop fees.
"She told me, 'Me and my daughter can do something for you in the back room,'" the clerk said.
The mother said the comment was meant as a joke.
Local 4 has learned no charges have been filed, but Child Protective Services vow to learn the truth.
In the meantime, the daughter will stay in the mother's custody.
