Counties to issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples

Washtenaw, Oakland, Ingham and Muskegon counties to open Saturday

MICHIGAN – Some Michigan courthouses are opening their doors Saturday to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

-The Washtenaw County Clerk will open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Washtenaw County Clerk Larry Kestenbaum believes his workers will be able to process 60 applications Saturday. They will have four clerks in the office to process the applications.

-The Oakland County Clerk will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter will be officiating marriage ceremonies at Affirmations on 9 Mile Road between 10a.m. to 1p.m.

-Ingham County will open their courthouse in downtown Mason from 8 a.m. to 1p.m.

-Muskegon County is issuing a license for a couple at 11a.m. They will also be issuing licenses to other couples that show up.
