Detroit Pistons to hold "Pistons Academy" cheerleading camp

3-hour programs for junior high/ high school boys and girls costs $55

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons have announced a one-day "Pistons Academy" cheerleading camp on Saturday, June 22 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The three-hour programs for junior high and high school boys and girls will cost $55 and include lessons from the Detroit Pistons Cheer Team, a 15-minute hip-hop dance session, and a ticket to the Detroit Pistons 2013 home opener.

Junior High: 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

High School: 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.

"We are excited to host our second Pistons Academy cheerleading camp here at The Palace of Auburn Hills," said Harlan Hendrickson, Vice President of Marketing for Palace Sports & Entertainment.  "We host a large high school cheerleading competition during the season each year and we hope that youngsters cheering for their junior high or high school teams will take advantage of this opportunity to learn from the best and improve their skills."

Participants can register online at www.nba.com/pistons/dance/pistons-academy-cheer-camp by Friday, June 14.  Walk-ups will be available the day of the event. Groups larger than 20 can get $5 off the registration price for each member.

2013-14 Detroit Pistons Cheer Team auditions will take place Sunday, August 25 at 12 noon at the Cheerleading Training Center of Michigan in Shelby Township.
