Snowmobiler crashes into a tree in Orion Township

Snowmobiler was travelling at a high rate of speed

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Early Sunday morning, Oakland County Sheriff deputies responded to an injury accident involving a snowmobile in Orion Township.

When deputies arrived at Clarkston road near Hinford, they discovered a snowmobile that had crashed into a tree.

The preliminary investigation indicates the snowmobile was traveling at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk when the driver lost control and crashed into the tree.

According to the deputies' report, the 42-year-old male driver, who is an Orion Township resident, was taken by the fire department to McLaren Hospital.

He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies suspect alcohol is a factor in the crash.

A search warrant was obtained to drawn blood from the driver to determine the level of alcohol in his system.

The toxicology report is pending.
