Pontiac cab driver stabbed several times by passenger

Sheriff's deputies still looking for attacker

PONTIAC, Mich. – A Pontiac cab driver was stabbed several times Monday morning after picking up a fare from the 100 block of Chamberlain.

The passenger asked the cabbie to drive to the area of Ellwood and North Paddock under the pretense that he was going to check on a friend.

When they got to this area, the man stabbed the cab driver several times before running from the scene.

The cabbie was able to drive himself to McLaren Hospital. The 57-year-old Pontiac resident is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his neck and face.

A search of the area by Oakland County Sheriff's deputies was unsuccessful. A motive for the attack is unknown at this time as the investigation continues.

Deputies described the suspect as a white man in his early 20s, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall. He has a thin build and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
