The break-ins occurred in the early morning and daytime hours.

Police say Carroll was driving in the area of 11 Mile Road and Alexander when an officer attempted to pull him over for a traffic stop.

Carroll fled in his car and a brief police chase ensued.

His car was found parked on a street and officers began a yard to yard search where Carroll was found hiding in a nearby backyard and taken into custody.

Police say several stolen tools were recovered from Carroll's car but the department cannot match the recovered items with any police reports.

Police believe residents may have either not yet noticed tools missing or have decided not to report the thefts.

Any Royal Oak resident who believes they may have been the victim of these crimes or can help identifying the true owner of the tools is encourage to contact the Royal Oak Police Department at 248-246-3500.
