Still time to visit State Fair at Novi Suburban Collection Showplace

Fair's theme this years is Michigan roots

NOVI, Mich. – There is still time to visit the fair.

The 2013 Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair runs from Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2 at the Suburban Collection Showplace, located at 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi.

Organizers said this year's state fair offers a time to celebrate all the products, people and music of Michigan, and the common thread for all the music offered on Fair stages this year is "Michigan roots."

Closing out the fair Sunday evening is George Bedard, a stalwart staple of the Ann Arbor and Detroit musical landscape since the 1970s. George Bedard and the Kingpins have few peers in the world of rockabilly, blues and old school rock-n-roll, organizers said.

Opening acts for the three evenings of the Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair will include Ryan Dillaha & The Medicine Men, Delilah DeWylde & The Lost Boys, singer-songwriter Steven Mullan, and See Jane Rock.

Organizers of the Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair said they are hoping to launch a new tradition with the first-ever Michigan State Fair Choir, comprised of members from various community and church choirs. The choir will be performing "Made in the USA," an eclectic medley of songs and styles enjoyed across the various regions of the United States, on Saturday.

The state runs from Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2 at the Suburban Collection Showplace, located at 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi.
