Thief sneaks into Waterford home through unlocked door, flips off security camera

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – It was about 4 a.m. when a man snuck inside a Waterford Township home.

Surveillance cameras were rolling and capturing his every move. First, the thief tried to get in through a window. When that didn't work he headed to the garage door. It was unlocked.

"I was devastated," said Derek Blake.

Blake and his girlfriend were asleep when they were robbed in the early morning. Blake woke up woke up and noticed his wallet was missing. Still, he didn't think anything of it. Then, something hit him.

"I get to work and check my security cameras and see someone breaking into my house," he said.

The burglar was so light on his feet that he didn't even wake the dog. With his hands full of electronics he left the home just as easily as he entered.

Yet, before he left he noticed the cameras and put up his middle finger.

"I would like to see this guy get caught, and go to jail for this," said Blake.

Police are investigating while neighbors are on edge. Meanwhile, Blake is doing everything he can to stop the bad guys from getting in again.

"I think it's going to change a lot of people now," he said.
