Vigil planned for Inkster student killed in violent Dearborn crash

Destani Henderson, 16, died after SMART bus crashed into back of her car

INKSTER, Mich. –

A vigil is planned for the 16-year-old Inkster student who died in a violent car crash last Monday.

The vigil for Destani Henderson will be held on Tuesday when the teen would have turned 17.

Henderson was killed while stopped at a red light on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. A SMART bus crashed into the back of Henderson's car launching it into a pickup truck.

She died at the scene. Three other teenage friends, who were Henderson's car, were also seriously hurt.

The driver of the bus is hospitalized. The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released.

Henderson 's mother says she wants to know why, what caused the bus driver to hit her daughter's car?

"And when it hit home, it's like, it's unbelievable, it's a dream that you will never wake up from," said Destiny's mother Makeshia Pierce. "Appreciate them, because we are not guaranteed tomorrow."

The vigil will also help raise funds to assist Henderson's family with burial coasts.
