WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. - Law enforcement in Washtenaw County is teaming up to crack down on bad drivers.
The Washtenaw Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police, University of Michigan Police and Pittsfield Township Police are pooling resources.
This means that no matter where a driver violates laws, they can be pulled over and ticketed by an officer from any jurisdiction.
"It's a more effective way of addressing specific issues, and the citizens get a bigger bang for their buck," said Sgt. Mark Thompson, of the Michigan State Police.
Officers spent much of Wednesday educating drivers about the new program, but soon they'll be writing tickets.
Livingston County has been using a uniform traffic team since 2008.
