50/50 raffle to benefit Dearborn schools has 1 in 100 odds of winning $50,000

Dearborn Public Schools Education Foundation holds BIG SHOT 50/50 raffle to fund grants for teachers

DEARBOORN, Mich. – The Dearborn Public Schools Education Foundation is holding a 50/50 raffle with a one in 100 chance to win $50,000.

The BIG SHOT raffle will take place at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center in Dearborn on Dec. 12th and only 100 tickets will be sold.

The price per ticket is $1,000.

If all 100 tickets are sold the foundation will receive $50,000 to help fund teacher grants and the remaining $50,000 will go to the wining ticket holder.

The foundation says so far 24 tickets have already been sold or spoken for.

Genevieve Vang owner of Bangkok 96 and Thai Feast frozen food line purchased her ticket and donated it to the school district. 

"If I buy a ticket for a school the foundation receives my support and they can help our teachers plus the school may win $50,000 and the kids and teachers in that school will benefit tremendously," said Vang.

The foundation says this type of raffle has never been done before.

"We have to try something new and creative and this is unique, fun and creative.," said Executive Director Eddie N. Fakhoury. "It gives our community a chance to get behind our teachers and school district in a big way."

Since the foundation began in 1992 they have raised and returned over $1.4 million to schools through teacher grant requests.
