Detroit River Days Festival kicks off Friday downtown

Event features family-friendly activities, food and more

DETROIT – Thousands of Detroiters and visitors are invited to kick off summer on the Detroit International Riverfront with the return of The 2012 Detroit River Days Festival on June 22nd through the 24th.

The three-day festival, presented by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, features many family friendly activities such as, the tall ships, a salute to the Tuskegee Airmen, giant sand sculptures and search and rescue demonstrations performed by the Coast Guard throughout the weekend. There will also be kids activities including puppet and magic showsand street performers.

You can get in free Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission Saturday and Sunday to the festival is $3.00 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and after 5 p.m. the fee is $5.00.
