Grandmother beaten at Dearborn Chuck E Cheese's

Westland woman says she was punched, dragged by hair at restaurant

DEARBORN, Mich. – A woman said she was punched and dragged by her hair on Sunday at a Chuck E Cheese's restaurant on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

The Westland grandmother said children watched as the beating unfolded.

She was at the restaurant for her grandson's 7th birthday. A couple at the next table was using foul language and she asked them to keep it down. She exchanged words with the couple before the fight broke out.

"He punched me in the face and he dragged me on the back of my head, by my hair," said the woman, who did not want to be identified in this story. "The table landed on top of me."

She was taken to Oakwood Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries. She was shaken and bruised but will be OK.

The suspected attackers fled the restaurant before police arrived.

The victim's daughter, Rachel, who did not want her full name used, filed a report with the Dearborn Police Department hoping to track down the couple responsible for her mother's beating.

"I was scared," Rachel said. "All I could think was I needed to find my son. He is 7 and he was standing right there. I didn't know if he was under a table or if he was hurt."

A spokeperson from Chuck E Cheese's coporate office said the restaurant was cooperating with police but did not go into detail.

Police will be reviewing surveillance video from the restaurant that they say capture the fight.
