Inkster holds meeting to address water bill complaints

Residents shocked by sharp increases to water rates

INKSTER, Mich. – Inkster's city leaders met with residents Thursday evening at a recreation complex to address complaints about the city's increasing water bills.

Complaints about surging water bills have been pouring into the Inkster City Hall for the past few months. Effected residents want to know why their bills have increased so sharply.

Inkster says one of the many reasons for the increase is the city it buys water from, Detroit, has increased water rates.

"It was a total shock," said Janet Provot, who received a statement for more than $2,000. "I mean, I couldn't believe it."

The mayor called the special meeting to address rising concerns.

A large crowd was expected to flood the recreation center in the 2000 block of Middlebelt Road.

Residents attending the meeting said they hope concerns will bring changes.
