Man who tried to stop robbery in Detroit now being pulled off life support

After months in hospital, family prepares to remove Calvin Robinson from life support on Thursday

DETROIT - After battling for his life, Calvin Robinson's family has decided to remove him from life support.

Robinson spent the last 5 months in the hospital after after trying to stop a robbery outside Detroit's Renaissance Center. He had witnessed a woman being robbed this past August outside of the building and he tried to help.

However, while helping the woman Robinson was shot by her attacker. He has been in a hospital bed since then. A group of people were spotted on surveillance video in the area at the time of the shooting, but those responsible are still unidentified and at-large.

Robinson's family is not giving up on their search for those responsible. The family also is hoping the end to his battle of survival will bring in new tips and leads.

"Think about it, if it was your family member, wouldn't you want some justice done," said Robinson's wife, Sharon.

They are encouraging people to contribute to a fund set up at Bank of America under Calvin's name. The money will be used to raise a reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.

There already is a reward of $1,000, but the family hopes raising that figure will bring in more tips.
