DETROIT - Wayne County is gearing up for the county executive election.
Westland Mayor William Wild introduced his candidacy for the position on Wednesday.
"As I travel the county, everyone tells me it's gotta stop, we don't want scandal, we want somebody new," Wild said.
With the scandal surrounding current Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, this job is now up for grabs. Wild said among other projects one that he wants to take on is the reconstruction of a new city hall building, considering the old one continues to flood.
Bigger political names such as County Commissioner Kevin McNamara and State Representative Phil Cavanaugh also are interested in the position.
As for Ficano, he says he is not putting his cards on the table just yet. He's "focusing on running the county."
The filing deadline is April 22.
