West Bloomfield student wins trip to London 2012 Olympic Games

Student finalist wins McDonald's Happy Meal Chefs Contest

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. - A student was surprised with news that she won a trip to the 2012 London Olympic Games where she will join kids from around the world as part of McDonald's Global Champions of Play program.

The 9 year-old West Bloomfield girl was selected as a finalist in McDonald's Happy Meal Chefs contest.

McDonald's owner Ron Moten, along with family and friends delivered the news Friday.

At the Olympics, the Michigan finalist will meet athletes; attend Olympic events; participate in cooking activities that promote balanced eating and have the exclusive privilege of playing with athletes at the Olympic venues. 

The Happy Meal Chefs contest was launched as part of McDonald's new Happy Meal campaign, which aims to help make nutrition fun for kids.

The young finalist and her mother entered the contest by submitting a short video online that creatively showcased their family mealtimes.

Once at the Olympics, finalist will meet Olympic athletes; attend Olympic sporting events; participate in cooking activities that promote balanced eating and have the exclusive privilege of playing with athletes at the Olympic venues.
