Wixom apartments targeted by thieves

Resident says thief on the loose near Wixom apartment complex

WIXOM, Mich. – Lauren Winter says she's had enough of getting robbed at her Wixom apartment.

Winter says thieves have targeted her apartment complex time and time again. A police report from the fall lists the allegedly stolen items that thieves swiped after they broke into the woman's apartment.

A motorcycle also was stolen from the apartment complex this past weekend. These are two different crimes with the same victim.

"They need to have night patrol. They need to have security cameras. They need to do something because it's not us it's everyone that's in danger," Winter said.

Winter has contacted Wixom police and the main office at the Stone Ridge Apartments in Wixom. She says her problem is not isolated.

She said another motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot on Friday and a car was stolen.

"I came home at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, our front door was wide open. The TVs were gone. Computers, tablets, jewelry. The whole place was ransacked. Our bed was flipped over," she said.

The apartment complex manager told the Local 4 Defenders that she is unaware of problems with break-ins. Winter's advice is to watch over your items because there is a thief on the loose near Wixom.

"It's not fair to the people who live here because we just lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff, and I can't even imagine what other people are losing," she said.

Reports have been field with Wixom police who are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Wixom police.
