Woman hospitalized after Hartland Township hit-and-run

40-year-old Brighton woman was riding bike on Old 23 early Saturday

HARTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 40-year-old Brighton woman was riding her bike north on Old 23 near Bergin in Hartland Township when she was struck by a vehicle around 6 a.m. Saturday.

The force of the impact threw the woman into a ditch and destroyed her bicycle, say Michigan State Police.

The driver didn't stop to help, but rather fled the scene. The victim was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital and her current condition is still unknown.

Police are now searching for the driver of a 2001-2002 Chrysler Sebring or Dodge Stratus.

The car involved will have front passenger side bumper damage and is also missing the passenger side mirror.
