Milford woman accused of beating man, dog with metal rod

VILLAGE OF MILFORD, Mich. – Milford police are pursuing attempted murder and animal cruelty charges against a 58-year-old woman who is accused of beating a man and a dog with a metal rod.

The woman called 911 Monday night and reported an injured man and dog in her home in the 1300 block of Nortoon, police said.

Officers found the 68-year-old man with "significant head and torso trauma," and the dog with injuries to his head.

Police said both were hit with a metal rod.

The man is on life support at the University of Michigan Hospital, police said.
The dog was treated at an area veterinarian office.

The woman is being held in the Oakland County Jail. A source told Local 4 that the suspect and victim are husband and wife.
