SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

A 79-year-old man who went missing Friday evening was found alive and unharmed in a field Saturday, not far from where he was last seen.

Robert Mullins was reported to have walked away from the Fairfax Manor Senior Assisted Living center at 1900 Prospect Rd. around 9 p.m. Friday evening.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit found Mullins in a nearby field on Prospect Road, just north of Geddes Road.

Mullins was laying in the field. Deputies said he was alive, talking and showed no signs of injury.

However, deputies said Mullins was reportedly exhausted from having spent nearly 20 hours wandering on his own.

At this time, it's unclear why Mullins wandered away from Fairfax Manor, deputies said.
