Missing Ypsilanti man's remains possibly found in Ohio

Brian Martin went missing in June 2014; ex-girlfriend, her husband charged with murder

YPSILANTI, Mich. – It's a love triangle turned deadly for Brian Martin.

The Ypsilanti man went missing last summer and it appears his body has been found in Ohio, about 40 miles southwest of Toledo.

"During the course of the investigation we were provided some information as far as the location of where his body was," said Toledo Police Sgt. Joseph Heffernan.

Martin was a softball umpire who was in the Toledo area for a game in June 2014. He never returned home to Ypsilanti. Investigators linked him to a long-time girlfriend, Desirae Strauss. She's now married to Robert Strauss. Police found evidence that suggests Martin was bludgeoned to death inside the Strauss' home.

Last summer, Desirae and Robert were arrested on murder charges. However, Martin's body never was found -- until now. Human remains were found in Putnam County, Ohio.

Martin's family is taking the news hard.

"Starting that grieving process. It is difficult for his family, but we're glad we can get to this point where we've discovered what we believe to be his remains," said Heffernan.

Investigators are working to positively identify the remains.
