Local mom accused of driving drunk with 2 young kids in car

Woman, brother arrested in incident

MILFORD, Mich. – Police say it was about 6 p.m. Sunday when a silver Ford Taurus drove by at more than 90 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone.

They followed the car westbound on General Motors Road in Milford and into a parking lot, where the 28-year-old woman driving got out of the car.

She admitted to police that she didn't want her brother, who was in the passenger seat, to go to jail. She also admitted that the two had been drinking.

Officers placed the 30-year-old man in the police cruiser, where he began to bang his head on the widow.

Then they gave the woman a field sobriety test. This all happened with her children, ages 1 and 3, in the back seat.

Police found an open bottle of alcohol under the front seat. The woman begged officers, even trying to bribe them, to let her go, authorities say.

The two both failed breathalyzer tests. Police say the woman's results were .225. She was taken to jail. The man with her was taken to the hospital after blowing a .43.

While in the police cruiser, the woman admitted to being on felony probation and began sobbing after appearing to realize her kids saw her get arrested.

The two are expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
