Mom located after child found wandering alone in Ypsilanti

YPSILANTI TWP., Michigan – Washtenaw County Sheriff Deputies have located the mother of a child found wandering alone in Ypsilanti.

Just before 2 o'clock Sunday morning, deputies received a call that a child was found in the roadway near the 2000 block of Washtenaw Avenue. The caller was worried that a vehicle was going to strike the child. When deputies arrived to the area, they found the child walking near a Taco Bell unharmed. He had on no other clothing except a diaper. The child was transported to a local hospital.

Sheriff Deputies sent out an alert to the public Sunday morning for help identifying the child.

Deputies say the mother was located around 8:30 a.m.. The family lives in Jackson and were in town visiting a friend overnight. The child was sleeping on the floor and when the mother woke up he was gone. Police say the home in Jackson is equipped with all the proper bells and locks on the door.

The child has been reunited with his mother.
