Former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers has been released from probation eight months early.

Conyers, the wife of Democratic Congressman John Conyers, had been serving a 37-month sentence for bribery, but federal authorities let her move from prison back to Detroit.

On May 16, 2013 she was placed on supervised release for two years. Conyers spent time working at an auto body shop in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn signed off on the early release.
