LASALLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Monroe County Sheriff's Office say a would-be robber armed with a knife that targeted a liquor store in LaSalle Township on Tuesday could be the same person who robbed a convenience store over the weekend.
In a statement, the Sheriff's Office said a man holding a large knife enclosed in a sheath walked into Midway Liquor on South Dixie Highway and announced a robbery. But the store's clerk pulled out a gun and scared the man away. The would-be robber was seen getting into a black PT Cruiser that was being driven by someone else.
On Sunday, a man entered Fred's Cash and Carry on Telegraph Road in LaSalle Township and threatened the cashier with a large knife before getting away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The Sheriff' Office said the man in that case was also seen getting into a PT Cruiser.
This is the description that has been released by the Sheriff's Office:
- White male
- 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall
- Medium build
- Was wearing a dark coat and pants, mask and gloves
Michigan State Police and Erie Township police have joined in the search for the robber.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-240-7530.
