Monroe woman arrested for robbing 3 pizza delivery drivers

Woman pointed handgun at delivery drive in abandoned house

MONROE, Mich. – Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone says a 27-year-old Monroe woman was arrested Sunday for robbing a pizza delivery driver at an abandoned house.

Police say the driver met the suspect at what turned out to be an abandoned home on Union Street at 12:06 a.m. The woman pulled out a black handgun and demanded money. The driver got away unharmed and the suspect fled with the food order.

Police identified the woman and found her at her home with a 28-year-old Monroe woman, who was arrested for being an accessory after the fact to the armed robbery. Both women were taken into custody without incident.

Evidence at the woman's home connected her to the armed robbery. Police also gathered information linking her to two other crimes involving pizza delivery drivers at abandoned homes in the area.

On Aug. 17, police say the suspect took the food order from a delivery driver and asked for change. The driver found a discrepancy and confronted the suspect, who grabbed the money she'd originally paid and fled with the food.

On June 7, the suspect ordered from a pizza restaurant and handed the delivery driver an empty envelope and fled with the food before the driver could open the envelope. No weapon was used during the two previous incidents.

Both women were taken to the Monroe County Jail. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police at 734-240-7548.
