A 24-year old resident of Dearborn Heights has been arrested for the hit and run crash at Telegraph and Colgate Roads that seriously injured three children.
The arrest was made after a citizen called police about a four-door burgundy car parked in a driveway that the caller recognized from a news report about the crash.
The three kids hurt in the crash, all under the age of 10, were in a Buick being driven by their aunt when a burgundy vehicle struck them and sent the Buick into a utility pole at Telegraph Road and Stanford Street.
The driver of the burgundy vehicle fled on Telegraph Road without stopping after the crash.
The kids' aunt was taken to a hospital and checked out. She was released.
Of the three children, all at Children's Hospital, the 7-year-old is in critical condition, the 8-year-old is in temporary serious condition and the 4-year-old is in stable condition.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
