Mother gets help from good Samaritan after son's fever leads to seizure

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – One local mom got a chance to give a heartfelt “thank you” to another mom she met during a very frightening moment in a church parking lot.

Kelly Nilson and Michelle Holmes had never met before, but when Michelle’s son began having a seizure in the parking lot of a church, Nilson was there to help.

"Sometimes you need somebody there for you,” Nilson said.

Holmes was on her way to the doctor with her son, who had spiked a 103-degree fever when she noticed he had lost consciousness in the back seat of her car.

"Looked in mirror and I see him slobbering out the mouth and he’s shaking and his eyes were back, and wasn't breathing," Holmes said.

Holmes pulled over and immediately tried to flag down a car for help. That’s when Nilson happened to notice her and pulled over to help.

Nilson says her niece had the same kind of fever-induced seizure, and was able to comfort Michelle.

Holmes’ son, Tommy, is now recovering from a bad infection and she says he’s doing well.
