DETROIT – The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan will be hosting the 12th annual Kidney Ball on Saturday Dec. 3 at the MotorCity Casino Hotel. The event hosts more than 800 business executives and socialites each year to raise funds for the foundation.
The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan aims to reach the $6 million mark in total annual Kidney Ball funds raised over the past 12 years. This year, the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan expects to raise $600,000 at the Kidney Ball, a release from the organization said.

Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised goes to support the programs and services to help the more than one in nine, or 900,000 people, in Michigan with chronic kidney disease the release said.
The night will include music from Your Generation in Concert, featuring Fifty Amp Fuse, along with plenty of food from MotorCity Casino Hotel and live and silent auctions that will include more than 250 items including hundreds of children’s toys, books and games.
The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan serves more than 80,000 people each year through evidence-based programs, direct patient services and outreach efforts.
The foundation has several programs, one is a Kidney Camp, that, according to the release, provides a week-long, true camp experience to more than 950 kids with chronic kidney disease over the last 30 years. The goal of Kidney Camp is to provide children with chronic kidney disease the opportunity to enjoy an exciting summer camp adventure complete with activities and the great outdoors.
The foundation also hosts a diabetes prevention program. This program is a 16-week workshop offered at no-cost to qualified participants for those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Another program the foundation has created is Regie’s Rainbow Adventure. This is a seven-week program for preschool and early elementary-aged children using a superhero named Regie to teach kids about the importance of good nutrition and physical activity, the release said.
Finally, the foundation hosts Healthy Kids and Kidneys. According to the release this is an 8-week evidence-based health education and disease prevention program, offered to fifth-to-seventh grade students in elementary and middle schools in Southeast Michigan.
