CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Chesterfield Township police hope a surveillance image from a gas station robbery on Sunday can help catch the suspect.
Police say the suspect entered a Speedway gas station at 4 a.m. Sunday on 21 Mile Road near Interstate 94. The man selected some food items from the store and walked up to the cash register with money in his hand.
However, as the clerk, who was working alone, rang up the transaction, the man pulled out a black handgun and demanded all the money from the store's cash register.
The clerk followed the gunman's orders, giving him all the cash. The man fled toward the rear of the gas station with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Chesterfield Township police officers, along with a Macomb County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit, were unable to find the suspected robber. They believe he escaped in a vehicle which was parked and waiting nearby.
The man is described as white, between 20 and 25 years old and standing about 6 feet tall. He has a stocky build, facial hair and a lip ring. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a gray sweatshirt underneath. He also had on black gloves.
Anyone with information on the suspect in the image is asked to contact the Chesterfield Police Department at 586-949-2450 or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP.
