Neighbors rescue woman from burning home

DETROIT – Three neighbors saw smoke coming from a neighboring home Monday and went running towards the fire.

"I felt it was my mom in there, get it open as fast as I could," said Al Brown, one of the neighbors who rescued the older woman from the burning home.

Brown felt like it was his mother in the house, that's how he and his neighbors view the older woman who was inside.

She couldn't get out, but Robert Williams says there were going to get her out.

"We got shovels and pulled the AC out, smoke just came out," Williams said.

With smoke pouring from the windows, the three went to the front door.

Darryl Britton says there were bars on the front door and time was running out.

"We had to perform quick to get this lady out of the house," Britton said.

All three used a shovel to break the door, then kicked it in. The woman was lying on the floor.

Her rescuers said she was having trouble breathing. But they got her out of the home and saved her life.
