New charter schools to open in Michigan

Seven new Michigan charter schools will open this fall

MICHIGAN – From the Upper Peninsula to Detroit, seven new charter schools are opening their doors in Michigan this Fall.

The Detroit News reports that the number of charter schools statewide will remain around 300 due to closings and a merger.

The Michigan Association of Public School Academies says only two new charters are in southeastern Michigan, including one in Detroit.

The list of new schools to open includes: Lake Superior Academy in Salute Ste. Marie; Gateway to Success Academy in Scottville; Livingston Classical Academy in Whitmore Lake; PACE-The Paris Academy in Genesee County; Highpoint Virtual Academy of Michigan in Mesick; Detroit Prep in Detroit; and Inkster Preparatory Academy in Inkster.
