There's a brand new Muppet coming to "Sesame Street" and she will focus on her hunger struggle issues in an upcoming episode.
The new Muppet is named Lily and her family has dealt with food insecurity. She will be apart of a prime-time special called "Growing Hope Against Hunger," airing on Oct. 9.
Country star Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams Paisley will join Lily, Big Bird, Elmo and other favorites in the special.
"Food insecurity is a growing and difficult issue for adults to discuss, much less than children," the Paisleys said in a statement.
The special will show children telling their personal stories of their family's struggle with hunger. It will also highlight some innovative and community-driven solutions, including food drives and assistance programs.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 17 million American children have limited or uncertain food -- 9.6 million of those are under the age of 6.
"Sesame Street" is broadcast in more than 150 nations and has won multiple awards for it's educational content for preschoolers.
