New ticket amnesty program in Detroit

Fines dating back 3 plus years will be cut by 30%

DETROIT – If you have an overdue parking ticket, May is your lucky month. Starting May 1st, you can pay off your ticket fees at a reduced rate.

It's all a part of Detroit's new, ticket amnesty program. If you have a ticket, dating back three or more years, your fine will be slashed by 30%. However, time is limited. The program ends on the 16th.

The amnesty program comes as the city prepares to hike parking ticket fees. They also plan on being more aggressive with fee collection. Both changes are slated to begin in June.
