The Ayla restaurant in Westland has only been open for two months, but a fire Tuesday evening has forced the restaurant to close.

The staff on duty at the restaurant on Wayne Road at Hunter Avenue reported seeing flames coming from the ceiling above an oven.  They tried to put out the fire on their own, but had to call 911 for help.  Westland firefighters responded quickly and confined the damage to the kitchen area.

The three workers who were in the restaurant at the time got out safely.

Owners hope to rebuild and reopen the restaurant as soon as they can.
