1 killed, several injured when multi-city police chase ends in crash

Chase occured between Taylor, Romulus

TAYLOR, Mich. – A multi-city police chase ends in a deadly crash, killing one person and injuring several others.

The crash happened on Inkster Road south of Northline in Taylor Saturday night but the the chase started in Romulus.

Romulus Police say it started with an ordinary traffic stop for a suspected drunk driver but as the officer approached the suspect vehicle, the driver took off.

Police say they pursued the vehicle southbound on Inkster. The vehicle ran a red light then rear ended another motorist, sending the suspect vehicle out of control.

The vehicle then crossed the center line and struck a Romulus patrol car.

The suspect, 42-year-old Adam Orlando-James Carlisle of Romulus, was killed in the crash.

Two Romulus police officers, the civilian motorist and her 3-year-old son were transported to the hospital for the injuries. The extent of their injuries are not known at this time.

Michigan State Police are investigating the incident.
